衰老是腫瘤、心血管、神經(jīng)系統(tǒng)等疾病最重要的發(fā)病及不良預后因素。因衰老帶來的疾病目前已成為阻礙社會健康水平提升的關(guān)鍵因素，給經(jīng)濟增長與社會保障帶來嚴峻挑戰(zhàn)。深入認識衰老、及早干預衰老進程、有效減少因衰老導致的腫瘤及其他相關(guān)疾病已成為現(xiàn)代生物醫(yī)學研究的重要領(lǐng)域。

Aging is the most important factor of cancer, cardiovascular, nervous system diseases and poor prognosis. Diseases caused by aging have become a key factor hindering the improvement of social health, posing serious challenges to economic growth and social security. Deep understanding of aging, early intervention of aging process, and effective reduction of aging caused by cancer and other related diseases have become an important field of modern biomedical research.

鑒于海南省擁有的面向全球開放的醫(yī)療環(huán)境、典型的候鳥老人聚集地、政府對衰老與腫瘤的基礎(chǔ)研究和臨床轉(zhuǎn)化研究強有力的支持，海南醫(yī)學院、上海交通大學醫(yī)學院附屬瑞金醫(yī)院和美國塞繆爾·魏克斯曼癌癥研究基金會（SWCRF）三方協(xié)商共同建立衰老與腫瘤國際研究中心（ICAC）。

In view of the favorable conditions Hainan Province possesses including an open environment for health development, a gathering place for migrant elderly individuals, strong government support for basic and translational scientific research on aging and cancer, the Hainan Medical University, Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, and the Samuel Wexman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) jointly establish the International Center for Aging and Cancer (ICAC).

2020年12月18日，在陳竺副委員長、沈曉明書記的指導及支持下，海南醫(yī)學院、上海交通大學醫(yī)學院附屬瑞金醫(yī)院與塞繆爾·魏克斯曼癌癥研究基金會（SWCRF）達成正式合作協(xié)議，衰老與腫瘤國際研究中心正式成立。

The Hainan Medical University, Ruijin Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine and Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation reached a cooperation agreement and held the 2020 Academic Conference and opening ceremony of the International Center for Aging and Cancer in Haikou on December 18, 2020.
