藝術(shù)與設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)院溯源于湖北大學(xué)1942年成立的藝術(shù)科系。經(jīng)過80多年的發(fā)展，于2005年3月正式成立藝術(shù)學(xué)院,于2024年4月更名為藝術(shù)與設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)院。是辦學(xué)歷史悠久、師資力量雄厚、教學(xué)質(zhì)量優(yōu)異、教學(xué)資源豐富的學(xué)科性學(xué)院。

School of Art and Design?traces its roots to 1942 as the former Art Department of Hubei University. Over more than 80 years, School of Art was officially founded in March?2005， and was renamed School of Art and Design in April 2024. It is a multi-disciplinary academy that is time-honored, resource-rich and with the high quality of education.

早在1931年，湖北省立教育學(xué)院即誕生于沙湖之濱，并于1942年開設(shè)了音樂專修科。1944年，經(jīng)教育部批準(zhǔn)，學(xué)院改組，更名為國立湖北師范學(xué)院（簡稱“國師”），并于同年正式組建了音樂系，學(xué)制四年，為本科。其后，聘聲樂大師、著名音樂教育家喻宜萱教授為音樂系主任（喻先生建國后曾任中央音樂學(xué)院副院長兼聲樂系主任）。新中國誕生伊始，即在原“國師”的基礎(chǔ)上很快建立了湖北省教育學(xué)院，下設(shè)教育、中文、數(shù)學(xué)、物理、體育衛(wèi)生、音樂、美術(shù)、戲劇、俄文等9個專業(yè)。

In 1931, the Provincial Education Institute of Hubei was born by the bay of Sha Lake. Thus it opened the Academy of Music in 1942. In 1944 the charter granted the institute, and renamed it “National Hubei Normal Academy” (short as NHNA). In the same year, School of Music was officially founded, with four-year undergraduate study. Following that, the academy engaged the noted Music Educator Yixuan Yu became the Dean of the School of Music. (Professor Yu was the Vice-President of the Central Academy of Music and the Dean of School of Vocality in CAM.) At the birth of the P.R.China, National Hubei Pedagogical Academy was founded. Soon it established 9 disciplines: Education, Chinese, Mathematics, Physics, Sports and Health, Music, Art, Drama and Russian.

與此同時，為了適應(yīng)學(xué)校事業(yè)發(fā)展的需要，學(xué)校面向社會廣泛招攬人才，建立了一支德才兼?zhèn)洹W(xué)識淵博的教師隊(duì)伍。譬如當(dāng)時就從私立武昌藝術(shù)?？茖W(xué)校、國立武昌體育師范?？茖W(xué)校、湖南音樂?？茖W(xué)校等學(xué)校引進(jìn)了一批學(xué)術(shù)造詣精深的教師來校工作。

時任美術(shù)科主任的楊立光先生，為國內(nèi)著名美術(shù)教育家，后任湖北省美術(shù)家協(xié)會主席、湖北美術(shù)學(xué)院院長?！昂屯魳?，玉振金聲”。美術(shù)、音樂等藝術(shù)專業(yè)先后為國家培養(yǎng)了大批專業(yè)人才，也為校園文化建設(shè)作出了應(yīng)有的貢獻(xiàn)。

At the same time, to accommodate the need of the development, the academy attracted numerous qualified people to build the teaching team of high quality and rich experience. Some of them, were introduced from established education institute, such as, Wuchang Private Art College, National Wuchang Atheletic Normal College and Hunan Music College. Professor Liguang Yang who was once the Dean of the Fine Art was a notable Art Educator, who was also the president of Hubei Artists Associattion and the president of Hubei Academy of Fine Art. As he said, “a piece of euphonious music has the power of evoking ethical magnificence. ” Art and Music education has trained numerous talents for the community. It also helps developing the culture of Higher Educational Institution.

1956年春，根據(jù)國家對高等院系進(jìn)一步調(diào)整的要求，將我校和華中師范學(xué)院的美術(shù)、音樂進(jìn)行合并，組建成新的武漢藝術(shù)師范學(xué)院。

In the spring of 1956, based on the amended charter of institution of higher education, the Art and Music Department of Central China Normal College combined with NHNA, reformed as Wuhan Art Normal Academy.

藝壇前賢播薪火，傳承自有后來人。隨著湖北大學(xué)各項(xiàng)事業(yè)的發(fā)展，學(xué)校確立了建設(shè)“國內(nèi)知名、在國際上有一定影響的教學(xué)研究型綜合性大學(xué)”的宏偉目標(biāo)，遂于1985年重新組建藝術(shù)教研室，1997年發(fā)展為藝術(shù)教育中心，1999年建成美術(shù)系，并于次年正式招生。由于湖北大學(xué)開辦藝術(shù)專業(yè)已經(jīng)具有70多年的歷史，保存了大量藝術(shù)類圖書和相關(guān)教學(xué)資料，學(xué)校博物館還有館藏新石器時期、青銅時代以及古代各時期和近現(xiàn)代大量文物，有明朝、清朝和近現(xiàn)代名人大家的書畫真跡，為藝術(shù)教育和研究提供了寶貴的資源，也為建設(shè)和發(fā)展藝術(shù)學(xué)院奠定了比較堅(jiān)實(shí)的基礎(chǔ)。

The pioneers of the Academy had established a solid foundation for new generations to inherit. Along with the development of multi-disciplines of Hubei University, they have affirmed the orientation target as become the nation-wise outstanding multi-disciplinary university which has a certain impact to the world academy. Therefore, Hubei University reformed the Art Department in 1985, renamed it Art Education Center in 1997. In 1999, it set up Fine Art Department, and started to accept students in the following year. During the 70-plus years development, School of Art has archived a large amount of books in Art and related resources. The university museum has archived numerous historical relic from the Neolithic Age, the Bronze Age, and other different ages from ancient times and modern times. There treasured collections of painting and calligraphy from great masters of Ming dynasty, Qing dynasty and modern times. The school provides precious resources for art education and research, meanwhile, there established a firm foundation for the school to blossom.

學(xué)院現(xiàn)有藝術(shù)學(xué)、設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)2個一級學(xué)科碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)點(diǎn)，設(shè)計(jì)、美術(shù)與書法2個碩士專業(yè)學(xué)位授權(quán)點(diǎn)；擁有美術(shù)學(xué)、環(huán)境設(shè)計(jì)、視覺傳達(dá)設(shè)計(jì)、數(shù)字媒體藝術(shù)、產(chǎn)品設(shè)計(jì)5個本科專業(yè)，其中美術(shù)學(xué)、環(huán)境設(shè)計(jì)、數(shù)字媒體藝術(shù)3個專業(yè)獲批國家級一流本科專業(yè)建設(shè)點(diǎn)。另外，學(xué)院已經(jīng)獲批湖北大學(xué)與美國馬薩諸塞大學(xué)達(dá)特茅斯分校聯(lián)合辦學(xué)（數(shù)字媒體專業(yè)）。另有基礎(chǔ)課部、音樂教研室、藝術(shù)教育中心。

The school has?two first-level decipline master degree authorization points in Art and Design, and two professional master degree autorization points in Design and Art and Calligraphy. And there are?5 undergraduate majors,including Fine Art, Environmental Design,Visual Communication Design,Digital Art, Product Design,among which three majors, Fine Arts, environmental design, and digital Media Art, have been approved as national first-class undergraduate major construction units.In addition,?Hubei University and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth joint school (digital media major)?has been approved. Besides, there are Foundation Course, Music Research Center and Art Education Center.

擁有“湖北省科技美術(shù)研究會”、“湖北省高校戲曲傳播中心”、“湖北省非物質(zhì)遺產(chǎn)研究中心”、“文化創(chuàng)意設(shè)計(jì)與產(chǎn)業(yè)化開發(fā)湖北省重點(diǎn)研究基地”、“湖北大學(xué)文化科技融合創(chuàng)新研究中心”（湖北省人文社科重點(diǎn)研究基地）等4個省級科研平臺、有“湖北大學(xué)藝術(shù)設(shè)計(jì)研究所”、“湖北大學(xué)中國畫研究所”、“湖北大學(xué)水彩畫研究中心”、“荊楚藝術(shù)研究中心”、“中國藝術(shù)品鑒藏中心”等多個校級平臺。湖北省民間文學(xué)藝術(shù)家協(xié)會工藝美術(shù)委員會掛靠藝術(shù)學(xué)院。

And also has set up the 4 provincial research center includes Hubei Technology Art Research Center, Hubei Traditional Chinese Opera Communication Center, Hubei Intangible Culture Research Center, Key Research Center of Hubei Cultural Creativity and Industrialization. Based on school, there are multiple school-wise research center, includes Art and Design Laboratory, Chinese Painting Laboratory, Watercolor Research Center, Jingchu Art Research Center and Chinese Artwork Authentication Center. In addition, School of Art has a close relation ship with Hubei Folk Art and Literature Association.

學(xué)院的專任教師隊(duì)伍中，正、副教授43人，博士生導(dǎo)師1人，碩士生導(dǎo)師42人，具有博士學(xué)位20人。另外，校外碩導(dǎo)及兼職教授近50人。全日制在校本科生、研究生1500余人。

Among the whole team of School of Art, there are43 professors and associate professors, 1 PhD supervisor, 42 master supervisors, and 20 teachers have PhD diploma or are PhD candidates. There are more than 1500 students including undergraduates and postgraduates.

藝術(shù)學(xué)院依托綜合大學(xué)深厚的人文底蘊(yùn)，堅(jiān)持“德用兼立，學(xué)思并重”的院訓(xùn)，立足中部，面向全國，逐步與國際接軌，按照“以道為基，以技為長，道技并重，應(yīng)用為先”的育人理念，采用理論、技法和實(shí)踐相結(jié)合的教學(xué)方法，大力培養(yǎng)基礎(chǔ)扎實(shí)、知識面寬、富有創(chuàng)新精神和動手能力的高素質(zhì)創(chuàng)作、創(chuàng)業(yè)藝術(shù)人才。學(xué)院積極推行開放式辦學(xué)模式，注重加強(qiáng)與國內(nèi)外高校間的學(xué)術(shù)交流和人才聯(lián)合培養(yǎng)，現(xiàn)已與美國、英國、德國、法國、澳大利和韓國等10多個國家的高校開展了學(xué)術(shù)互訪和人才聯(lián)合培養(yǎng)。學(xué)院教師已出版專著多部，在國內(nèi)外多次舉辦畫展，很多繪畫、設(shè)計(jì)作品被國內(nèi)外有關(guān)部門收藏。師生作品多次在全國美展、全國設(shè)計(jì)展、中國藝術(shù)節(jié)、全國大學(xué)生廣告設(shè)計(jì)大賽、奧林匹克美術(shù)大會藝術(shù)展、亞運(yùn)會宣傳設(shè)計(jì)大賽、亞太區(qū)創(chuàng)意設(shè)計(jì)大賽等國內(nèi)外專業(yè)比賽中屢獲佳績，贏得了廣泛的社會贊譽(yù)。本科生入學(xué)分?jǐn)?shù)穩(wěn)居湖北省高校第一位。

School of Art has grown on the basis of multi-disciplinary university, we insist, “Establishing ethical and practical disciplines, Utilizing method as well as thinking” as the school spirit. The school is located in the middle of China, it is a good opportunity to connect with other academies cross the country, and we aim to have a better connection with oversea academies. By the concept of “based on ethics, technique as strength, practice as priority”, the school intends to educate those who would become creatives with both high creativity and practical skills. On the other side, the school emphasizes on the communication with oversea academies. We have already running exchanges and cooperation with oversea academies from over 10 countries. Some of the teachers of School of Art have published books through oversea press, and some have exhibited works around the world. Also, oversea galleries have collected numerous artworks from the teachers. The school has already received educational achievement: Students work continuously won significant awards in industrial competitions, such as National Art Exhibition, National Design Exhibition, Chinese Art Festival, National University Students Advertisement Competition, Olympic Art Association Exhibition, Asia-Pacific Creative Design Competition etc. Moreover, the average score of undergraduate students achieve during the admission test is the highest score in all of the universities in Hubei.

未來，在《中共中央關(guān)于繁榮發(fā)展社會主義文藝的意見》和湖北大學(xué)黨委的引領(lǐng)下，藝術(shù)與設(shè)計(jì)學(xué)院將以新的精神、新的步伐，加快改革和發(fā)展，不斷提高教育質(zhì)量和辦學(xué)水平，努力打造綜合性大學(xué)一流的本科和研究生藝術(shù)與設(shè)計(jì)教育品牌，為湖北省和全國的文化藝術(shù)與設(shè)計(jì)教育事業(yè)做出新的更大的貢獻(xiàn)！

Under the leadership of the party in Hubei University, along with the Communist Art Opinion from the party, School of Art will move to the next step with a new spirit. We aim to become the world-class Art and Design school based in the multi-disciplinary university. And we intend to work on a greater contribution to Chinese and Hubei art and design education career.
